Education
Umimmak School is the community school. It is a K-12 multi-graded school.
The school’s mandate, under the Department of Education, Government of Nunavut is to develop students through programming grounded in Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (Inuit ways of knowing, being and doing).
In the spring the school will take students ‘out on the land’, in part for the outdoor experience, but also to promote traditional land skills and learning.
Nunavut Arctic College also has a facility located in the community, and periodically will offer specific learning opportunities, bringing specific programs to the community residents.
