Land Access Road

The development of an access road across the tundra (the “Greenlander”), to the West of town, is an ongoing project. Progress is gradual, but the initiative is one that will be of great benefit to the community, and to visitors to Grise Fiord.

The road is an opportunity to “get outta of town”, relax on the tundra, have a picnic, and view local “fauna and flora”!

Part of the road has been completed, and in addition to the above it is also being used for hunting and fishing purposes.

We are currently working with Worley Canada to determine engineering solutions for scaling the steep rock decline down to the ocean. There is about two kilometers of road construction still required before reaching this decline, however we feel it is expedient to ensure we know the best route for the remaining development, and the ‘end game’ in advance!
